Innovation District Restaurant
Located within the Seaport neighborhood of Boston, this restaurant was designed with the goal of showcasing the potential of a retail space located in the bottom floor of a renovated life sciences building. Hacin was tapped by a leading life sciences developer to envision an “all day café” concept that provided an amenity space for the building while activating the Seaport's streetscape and adding value to the neighborhood. A main goal of the concept was creating a sense of warmth and intimacy within the space, which was housed in a building consisting mostly of glass and steel. Housing a dining area, bar seating, a “to-go” counter, an outdoor patio, and restrooms to service the restaurant and building lobby, the space was designed as flexible and connective, serving as a welcoming meeting place within the innovation district. The design of the space was inspired by the sinuous, curvilinear façade, and was reflected in a curved bar, banquettes, and an arched entryway.
