Hermosa Beach House

The Hermosa Beach House project is a three-story new construction residence located as close to the ocean as southern Los Angeles allows. Designed in collaboration with Laney LA, a locally-based studio specializing in residential projects, the home is centered around a “California crafted” concept, with both the architectural and interior finishes and furniture following a sundrenched, airy aesthetic highlighted by an abundant suffusion of natural light. The juxtapositions of privacy, transparency, and surprise are found throughout the residence, which houses a vibrant contemporary art collection. The design prioritizes the view of the ocean on all three floors and an emphasis was placed on blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor, with pocketing glass doors to bring the ocean breezes through the home. Overall, the design team sought to design a casual, welcoming interior that reflected the laid-back atmosphere of the local beach community.
