75 Federal Street
The ‘speculative office suite’ at 75 Federal Street, a Boston Art Deco landmark building, modernizes the rich color palette, hard angles, and opulent materiality of the 1920s and ’30s. Triangular patterns of varying scales and expressions can be found throughout the space in the carpet, wallcovering, and green backsplash. A custom upholstered banquette contrasts smooth matte black lighting and plumbing fixtures, introducing a contemporary interpretation to the Art Deco-inspired language. A bronze mesh screen emphasizes the transition between kitchen and workspace, paying homage to the materials of the time period without limiting access to natural light.
