Living Proof

This bright, open office + lab space for Cambridge start-up Living Proof was designed around the needs of scientists solving tough beauty problems through advanced medical and materials research. The flexible office includes many breakout spaces where teams can meet to collaborate away from their desk space. The office kitchen is a social center of the space, with a large blackboard nook and a big central island that has become a popular meeting location for employees. Glass walls enclosing meeting spaces and strategically placed windows allow a feeling of connectivity through the office and laboratory spaces. Regarding customers as “living proof” of the results they can bring, Living Proof products have received countless awards and praise for revolutionizing skin + hair care technologies.

Designed as a public extension of the headquarters, the Living Proof Style Lab, a flexible prototype retail/salon space directly connects with the surrounding Cambridge neighborhood. Reinforcing the ‘Scientist tested, Stylist approved’ product concept, this new space accommodates a wide variety of retail uses and special events, from stylist training to special evenings with spokesperson Jennifer Aniston. Hacin designed a custom furniture system that can be configured for these different uses in a way that subtly reflects the nature-based molecular innovation that forms the foundation of the company’s identity.
