Jenn Clapp Selected as Guest Designer for Design New England
Last week, Design New England Magazine released the May/June 2015 issue, and in it, Hacin’s Jennifer Clapp curates an inspired porch setting in the feature, “Selections: Landscape Living.” Showcasing Boston muralist, Susan Harter’s landscape wallcoverings, three designers were chosen to imagine and design an outdoor retreat for the home. This “outdoor” space was simulated in-studio with Susan’s beautiful wallcoverings and selected furniture, objects, and accessories each interior designer brought in to set the mood.

Marc Bordet of Bordet Interiors, and Holly Joe of Holly Joe Interiors LLC, joined Jennifer in the showcase, with photographer Joel Benjamin directing the photoshoot. Jennifer was tasked with the project of creating an evening porch scene which included selections from some of our favorite spots for interior design resources; The geometric Egg Swing by Kettal and the FollowMe table lamps by Inna Bermudez for Marset were all found at Casa Outdoor Boston. Accessories from Lekker Home included throw pillows by Zuzunaga, Teak Pop Stool Tables by Ethnicraft, Woven Baskets by Doug Johnston, and a Bar Cart by Notre Monde. The Eames wire-based chair, pillow, dinnerware, and Chilewich mat were contributed by our friends at Design Within Reach. Our neighbor just down the street at Farm & Fable loaned the antique cooler. A fan of taxidermied critters, the bat and ducklings were Jenn’s own. [See page 58 of the issue for a full list of resources.]
Of her evening porch scene, Jennifer says, “Choosing a nocturnal palette with scattered lanterns and a bat was a fun way to think of a porch – a cozy evening with a warm breeze, lightning bugs flashing in the distance. The pinks and reds are a happy contrast to the dark elements. Juxtaposition is one of the most powerful ways to make a statement.”
