Architectural Record Features District Hall

This month, District Hall is featured in Architectural Record as one of nine winning projects of the Good Design is Good Business Award. Architectural Record created this award nearly two decades ago to recognize the impact of good design on the profits of an organization or business. The value of an engaging and inspiring work environment is something entrepreneurs were beginning to think about at the time, and today we see the effect of this thinking on many of the spaces where the world’s most innovative companies do their work. As the nation’s first free-standing city-sponsored innovation center of its kind, District Hall is recognized as one of these forward-thinking workspaces revitalizing user experience, community involvement, and financial gain.

Architectural Record interviewed CIC’s CEO and Founder, Tim Rowe about District Hall’s development as the centerpiece for Boston’s Innovation District, in which Rowe discusses the center’s non-profit status saying, “It feels like a movement, not an asset.” On defining what a public innovation center was meant to do, accommodate, anticipate, and be, David Hacin mentions that he was taken by the idea of District Hall as a threshold, and as a place where ideas would be born and shared across the world. We couldn’t be more pleased that District Hall is receiving this recognition from Architectural Record as a leader in workplace environment and as a catalyst to the public innovation economy of Boston.
