Oyster Pond House Receives IIDA New England Award
Hacin’s Oyster Pond House project, located in Chatham, MA, received an International Interior Design Association – New England award at the yearly ceremony. The project, recently completed and featured in Ocean Home’s June/July 2023 issue, was recognized for best private residential project at the event, which took place at the SoWa Power Station, next door to our studio.
The home is a residential architecture and interior design project comprising the preservation of an original 19th century residence married with a two-story contemporary addition. The residence, overlooking Oyster Pond in Chatham, transforms a historic farmhouse into a gathering place for modern living that takes full advantage of its elevated site, expanding and reorganizing interior and exterior living areas to maximize views to the ocean while drawing inspiration from elemental forms and the surrounding vernacular. Clean, fresh, and durable interiors balance traditional coastal elements, utilizing a palette inspired by regional shells with a concept of organic shapes and humble materials. Congratulations to the project team, consisting of David Tabenken, Jennifer Clapp, Eduardo Serrate, and Becky Pittore.
